Effective governance, management and teaching have
been the hallmarks of Porirua School. Previous Office reports noted
continuing improvements in performance. Consultation with the staff and
community has been a strong feature of the Board of Trustees' operation.
The school has continued to provide an environment
where student independence, self-esteem and high academic performance
have been promoted. Individual needs are addressed. Staff have continued
to develop and refine procedures for Maori education. Tikanga Maori is an
integral part of the school culture.
