We are a central school situated on Awarua Street, near Mana College.
We have many exciting opportunities to offer our children with the added bonus of being a “city school” – within close proximity to many features such as Pataka, the recreation centre and North City Plaza.
Two new initiatives that we have taken on this year are Brain Breaks and Sample Books. These were created as a way of meeting our children’s needs. We found that many children would be tired or hungry quite early in the day. Our brain breaks take place each hour where the children are encouraged to eat healthy food and have a small break. Since introducing this we have found improved concentration on work and less behaviour issues at break times.
Another new concept is Sample books. These are designed to show the progress of children in different curriculum areas. The child and their teacher reflect on each piece which goes in weekly. Our children are very proud of these. Please come and visit us to see these initiatives and many other exciting programmes in action.
